Resilient product roadmaps: why operators and vendors need to align
Author: Harry Huang, Product Manager
Sometimes it’s by competition from operators with more agile architectures, as seen in the race between A2P providers and OTTs to adopt agentic AI.
Other times it’s because of regional regulatory pressures. Many operators within the EU, for instance, are navigating strict data sovereignty requirements. Those who can take advantage of solutions like the AWS European Sovereign Cloud – a cloud infrastructure built to meet those requirements – will be in a stronger position to deliver wholesale services with regulatory assurance.
The question that forward-looking operators need to be asking is:
How do we create product roadmaps that prepare us for the regulatory and market shifts we can’t yet predict?
Leaving legacy tech stacks behind
Answering this question requires operators to analyze their vendor partnerships. After all, product roadmaps can only be as resilient as the tech stacks they’re built upon.
A stack of fragmented legacy tools will add barriers at almost every stage for operators as they move forward. That’s whether they’re diversifying with services like RCS, adopting technologies like 5G, or controlling data flows for sovereignty regulations.
For operators today, thinking about the vendors they partner with has become so much more than a technical decision. It’s become a resilience one.
As Telarix’s Global Strategic Account Director, Gareth Prosser, says:
“When every decision you make today will impact your future roadmap, you don’t want to be locked in with a partner who is going to be considered ‘legacy’ in a few years because they didn’t evolve.”
It’s important that this evolution is proactive, not just reactive. Working with vendors who introduce new solutions based on what the entire industry needs – not just in response to emerging market or regulatory requirements – is what will build real resilience for operators.

Innovating with macro-level insight
Our approach to innovation at Telarix is rooted in our ability to scan the terrain and seek out bottlenecks that need to be resolved. Partnering with the world’s largest operators gives us a macro-level view of the industry and means we’re able to build adaptable solutions that will serve carriers five, 10, or even 15 years from now.
Our iXTools platform is a prime example of this. We first introduced Origin-Based Handling capabilities because we identified that operators needed a simplified, automated way to navigate destination-based tax rates across the EU and recoup revenues for continued business sustainability.
We then started to see A-Number rule validations flow through the iXLink networks, and realized that we had an opportunity to help operators protect against telecom fraud. This sparked the value-add we introduced next: number intelligence capabilities.
By analyzing the industry and adapting our product roadmap proactively, we’re able to help operators put their best foot forward and keep pace with industry evolution.
With aligned roadmaps comes resilience
For vendors and operators to future-proof their roadmaps, they need to innovate in alignment. When vendors have clear oversight of why and how their customers are moving forward, they can adapt their own solutions in step.
At Telarix, for example, we run regular feedback sessions to analyze our customers' operational needs. We’re then able to customize our solutions accordingly, whether it's to align with customers’ currencies, time zones, or regional tax requirements.
We also share our predictions for the future of the industry and the value-adds that operators will need from our solutions next.
Looking ahead, we plan to implement agentic AI workflows into our solutions in a way that aligns with the data sovereignty requirements that operators are navigating. We innovate to the edge and then use regulatory guardrails and customer feedback to make sure our capabilities stay resilient to market changes.
